Andrade Shines as Vikings Defeat Sussex in PK Shootout to Advance to Region XIX Finals!

Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College men's soccer goalkeeper Robert Andrade made two spectacular saves in a penalty kick shootout to give the Vikings the victory over (#2) Sussex County Community College, advancing Ocean to the Region XIX finals. The match ended in regulation deadlocked at 1-1, with the lone Ocean goal coming from Doug Jensen, who scored his 20th of the season in the 35th minute, assisted by Matt Singh. The entire Vikings team played well, executing an effective and relentless defense while successfully attacking in transition. Andrade made 7 important saves thoroughout the match to force the contest into overtime and beyond. Converting penalty kicks for the Vikings were Andrew Jozwicki, Doug Jensen, Ryan Cheslock, and Scott Larsen. Robert Andrade has now saved 4 penalty kicks this season.

With this victory, the (#7) Vikings next travel to County College of Morris on Saturday for the 2017 NJCAA Region XIX Finals, where they will face (#3) Union County College in a 11:30 a.m. matchup. The winner will represent Region XIX at the NJCAA National Tournament, which will take place from November 8-12 in Herkimer, NY.
