Hart Leads OCC Men's Soccer Past Brookdale CC, 2-1

Toms River, NJ - Did David Beckham visit OCC Stadium on Saturday (10/9)? To the untrained eye, it may have seemed that way, as Johnny Hart bent shots as if DB7 had graced our Toms River pitch.

Hart, the OCC freshman midfielder, drove in two direct free kicks from 25 yards out on Saturday. For his first, he bent in near-post in the 3rd minute, while on the second, he pushed far post and past the sprawling Brookdale goalkeeper just before the half, to lead Ocean past the Brookdale Community College Jersey Blues by a final score of 2-1.

Hart (5g, 7a) currently ranks 5th in points (17) and 3rd in assists in Region 19.

The Jersey Blues landed on the score board in the first half, as forward Liam Stewart converted a penalty kick in the 35th minute. Hart responded just 5 minutes later to give the Vikings the lead for good.

Vikings goalkeeper Shane Cramer, currently ranked 3rd in Region 19 with 38 saves, recorded 5 more in this heated match.

Ocean outshot Brookdale 12-6 and now raise their overall record to 9-1, maintaining their 1st place ranking in Region 19.

Ocean next travels to Clark, NJ to take on the Owls of Union County College in a 7pm GSAC conference matchup.
