The Ocean County College Women's Volleyball team hosted the Northampton Spartans Thursday night and although they lost in 3 games, they lady Vikings played tough. Game one was highlighted by consistent passing from Libero Samantha Allen and Savanna Oliverio. Ireland Beal and Christina Van Der Vliet were strong on the net with multiple kills and many strategically place tips. Erin Dellane made her presence known with multiple blocks while Kerry Larkin, the setter, was also a force to be reckoned with on blocking. Dionna Gonnella and Beth Elsasser were consistently present on serve receive as well as within the defensive coverages.
The Vikings seemed to shake the Spartans a number of times defensively with a number of blocks by Gonnella and Dellane and some hard hits by Beal, Oliverio and Van Der Vliet, however it wasn't enough to defeat the Spartans. Overall, the Lady Vikings played very strong volleyball at their season home opener against the Spartans.
