Vikings Volleyball Shutout Streak Snapped in 3-1 Loss to Raritan Valley

Toms River, NJ - OCC Women's Volleyball (4-1) fell to the visiting Lions of Raritan Valley Community College, 3-1 on Monday (9/11). The loss marked Ocean's 1st this season, following 4 straight shutout victories.

This match was a thriller from start to finish, with each set hotly contested, and leads being traded back and forth. Ocean freshman outside hitter Claudia Cosme led Ocean's offensive effort, with 15 kills and 20 points on the night, while freshman libero Anna Malandro's match-leading 45 digs kept the Vikings afloat on more than one occasion.

Set scores: 25-22 (L), 25-22 (L), 25-12 (W), 25-19 (L)

"Hard game," reflected OCC Women's Volleyball Head Coach Alexis Whitney. "We lacked a bit of communication and discipline on defense. Amazing serve game by Claudia (Cosme) and Mikayla (Colonnello)."

The Vikings will look for their 5th win of the season on Wednesday, September 13, when they travel to Union College for a 7 P.M. Region 19 match versus the Owls.
