Vikings Golf Places Top 3 at Region 19 Rehearsal

Toms River, NJ - Carding a solid four-man total of 337, OCC Golf, led by head and assistant coaches Sean Fawcett and Nick Forgione, keeps on rolling along, and rolling in the birdie putts, in 2025.

Less than 3 weeks out from the all-important Region 19 Championship (May 12-13), the Vikings, led by First Club Josh Hybbeneth's 3rd place 79, rallied late to place 3rd overall, just 7 strokes away from 2nd place finisher CC of Morris (330), and less than 10 shots behind 2023 and 2024 Region 19 kings RCSJ Gloucester (328) at Union County's Ash Brook Golf Course in Scotch Plains, site of next month's upcoming Region 19 championship. Second man Rocco Scarabino followed up last Wednesday's 2nd place showing (83) at RCSJ Cumberland with an 84, getting up and down for 39 on the back nine after, and unfortunately, riding the bogey train to a 9-over 45 on the front. Dallas Weisse chipped in as well, carding his season-low, and personal match-best of 85 to back up Hybbeneth and Scarabino. An 89 by Jordan Cook rounded out the scoring, highlighted by another back nine 39 by the Vikings with Danny Sicknick, Maxx Agnello and Jimmy Borowski going low for rounds of 90, 85 and 85, respectively.

"The team started off slow, but everyone rebounded really nicely on the back nine," said Fawcett. "Josh, Rocco, Danny, Dallas, Jordan, Jimmy and Maxx showed once again what a solid group of golfers OCC has this year, serious contenders for the Region 19 Championship with a shot at qualifying for the 2025 NJCAA National Championship."

OCC Golf will next travel to Flanders Valley on Wednesday, April 30 to compete in the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) Tournament at Flanders Valley.
