Ocean CC Golf Putts for 3rd in Region 19

Toms River, NJ - In a season full of first, second and third place finishes, the Ocean County College golf team wrapped up their 2025 spring campaign once more ranked firmly among Region 19's top 3 teams, finishing 3rd ahead of Union College and RCSJ Cumberland.

Carding an impressive two-day total of 700 strokes (347 and 353), the Vikings placed 3rd to 2023, 2024 and now 2025 Region 19 champion RCSJ Gloucester and rivals County College of Morris at Union County's Ash Brook GC in Scotch Plains, NJ.

Jordan Cook led the way for Ocean on day one, jumping out to a front nine lead of +2 over par 38 en route to a fine 18-hole tally of 84, putting him in the first group for day 2. Fellow first-year player Daniel Sicknick backed up Cook's stellar day one golfing with a team tournament low 80 on Tuesday, going out in 39 and coming in at 41. Sicknick's solid second round marked a terrific 13-stroke turnaround from round 1 and got Sicknick to within just a single stroke (173) of a four-player tie for 8th Place. Sicknick would go on to finish in 11th place.

OCC teammates Rocco Scarabino, who very recently won 5th Place and 1st Team all Garden State Athletic Conference honors tying his season's best 79 at Morris County's Flanders Valley Golf Course (4/30), chipped in to the effort with rounds of 87 and 89, along with Josh Hybbeneth and Jimmy Borowski. During the regular season, Scarabino ranked 5th overall in average in Region XIX with Hybbeneth (7th), Borowski (12th) and Sicknick (14th).

"We had a very good season this year," remarked OCC Golf Head Coach Sean Fawcett. "All seven of our starters (including Dallas Weisse and Maxx Agnello) ranked in the top 24 players in the Region, which is a first for us since I've been coaching at OCC over these past six seasons. And with six of the seven coming back, along with three others and about five other top players entering in their first years, the future for OCC Golf looks really promising."
